UNP begins selecting candidates...

The United National Party will today begin the process of selecting candidates for the forthcoming Northern, North-Western and Central Provincial Council polls.Party General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told The Island they would begin by first considering the names that had been forwarded from district level.
He said selections would be made with the participation of nomination boards appointed for the respective areas. After the selection process, elections operational committees too would be appointed.

In selecting members to elections operational committees, party seniors, youth and women representatives would be given an opportunity, the General Secretary said.
