Govt. has made India angry with Sri Lanka -Kiriella

United National Party Parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella says that the government has made India angry with Sri Lanka. The parliamentarian expressed this view while attending a function Harispattuwa.''When the Wadamarachchi battle was on, if Denzil Kobbekaduwa was given another 24 hours he would have captured all. But in the 1990s India told us to stop the war. Therefore we could not go forward. That is why this war continued.''

''However when our forces were continuing the war in 2009, India did not tell us to stop. They said "Finish Prabhakaran and then stop this." India made this statement based on the promises made by our government.''

''The government promised that as soon as the war is over, proper elections will be held in the Northern Province and opportunities will be given to the people to appoint their representatives. It was the government that made this promise and not us.''

''But they are yet to fulfill this promise. This was the beginning of the present situation. It was the government that made India angry and no one else,'' said the UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella.
