Ranil meets Indian President and Foreign Minister

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee states that the responsibility of strengthening bilateral ties between India and Sri Lanka rests with both parties.He made this statement while engaging in discussions with opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe, who is engaging in a two day official tour of India, at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi yesterday.


During the discussion opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe had stated to the Indian President that steps need to be taken to improve bilateral ties between the two countries, while specially focusing on Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Wickramasinghe also engaged in discussions with the Indian Foreign Minister Salman Kurshid yesterday and during the discussion the Indian Foreign Minister had stated that India will strive to give Sri Lanka maximum support at all times.

Indian Foreign Minister Salman Kurshid had also stated that he admires the efforts taken by the Sri Lankan opposition leader to maintain the friendship between the two countries during times of crisis.
During his official visit opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe has also held bilateral discussions with the Indian security adviser Shishankar Menon, Indian opposition leader Sushma Swaraj, and the leader of the Bharathiya Janatha Party L. K. Adwani.
