If Resolution adopted , much pressure- Ranil

To pay for the sins of a dictatorial regime, the govt will in no way be allowed to send Sri Lanka and the people to hell, said the Leader of the Opposition and UNP Leader Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe today( 18) at a media briefing in Colombo . There was no purpose in demonstrating within the country against the serious situation which has arisen internationally and actually at present,
there should be demonstrations against this govt which had betrayed the country and people to international forces, he said.

The government is in a position to save the country, but yet if it does not act to do so, we will be compelled to state to the international community that these our the sins of a dictatorial regime rather than of the country, he said.

When the Resolution against Sri Lanka put forward at the UNHRC sessions, is adopted, there will be much pressure on us internationally and will have to be faced by the Country and people, not the government, he emphasized.

If the government does not act judiciously and the US backed Resolution is adopted at the UNHRC sessions, accordingly a mandated officer will come to Sri Lanka and compile a report pertaining to Human Rights, and if he be allowed to com into the country, Sri Lanka will be labeled a country which had violated Human Rights and internationally the impact will be felt by the people and not the govt. he said.

We urge the government that they should act in manner as were put forward by the proposals in 2009 and agreements reached thereafter, the leader of the opposition said
